An integrated agro-food company
Founded in 1962, CLAI (Cooperativa Lavoratori Agricoli Imolesi) is an integrated-production farming cooperative that acts as a market reference point in the production of fresh pork and beef meats and as a company specialised in the cured meats sector.
All phases of the entire agro-food chain are fully controlled, from soil preparation to breeding of the much-acclaimed Padana fattening pig (Gran Suino Padano PDO), to the slaughter, transformation and finished product marketing phases, all of which mean that CLAI is absolutely unique in Europe.
Today the company has more than 250 partners, 400 staff and a network of 80 agents. In 2008, turnover reached 174 million euro.
With strong roots in its home area, the Cooperative was founded with the aim of offering new organisational formats to the farming world, formats that allow today's challenges to be met. Over the years the company has evolved constantly so as to be ready for changes imposed by market developments. Today, CLAI is one of the leading integrated agro-food companies in Italy.
The splendid Villa La Babina, in the Sasso Morelli area of Imola, is the Cooperative's Management Centre, fully restored by the company. Tradition and innovation in perfect balance, expressed just as much in the CLAI headquarters as in the excellence of its products.
